BodyTalk

BodyTalk

Description:

Children take it in turns to impersonate and bring life to different nouns (things) and adjectives (actions) without using any words. Other children (e.g., siblings/friends) and adults try to guess what the child is acting out.

Promote learning by:

  • Encouraging their attempts to demonstrate the noun/adjective
  • Providing alternate words to describe the child’s actions, building their vocabulary, and encouraging their efforts
  • Relate your guesses to the actions your child makes, helping them to be increasingly aware of connecting meaning to how their body looks from the perspective of others
  • Utilising children’s interests and knowledge base, acting out words that they will know as well as those they may not, but maintaining their motivation to keep trying.
